GM’s High-Stakes Heist: Thieves Target a Cadillac Escalade IQ, Get Foiled in Daring Caper

Electric Elegance: Thieves Score Break-In at GM Storage, Make Off with Cadillac Escalade IQs
The wait for the long-awaited electric Cadillac Escalade IQ is almost over, but it seems there’s already a group who can’t wait to get their hands on one.
In a shocking incident in Detroit, thieves broke into a General Motors storage facility and managed to make off with multiple Escalade IQs without being detected. And if that isn’t surprising enough, video footage has emerged showing an Escalade IQ parked on a concrete barrier – a clear indication that these thieves weren’t exactly sneaky.
The Investigation
The incident occurred sometime around 3 a.m. on Wednesday at the GM storage facility on Lynch Rd, near its intersection with Van Dyke (about a dozen blocks away from I-94).
What Happened at the Scene
According to eye-witness accounts, including an Instagram video, some of the Escalades were used to break the fence, while others suffered damage in the process, including a smashed-up front end. It’s yet to be confirmed how the thieves managed to get their hands on the vehicles – or how many were affected.
The Aftermath
While there’s little information available on the investigations, it’s likely GM will be able to locate the stolen vehicles using its OnStar system. Needless to say, Escalade IQs aren’t exactly the most inconspicuous vehicles on the road, so if you spot one that looks even remotely damaged, it may have been involved in the break-in.
