Chevy Corvette ZR1 Smashes Road Atlanta Lap Record with Jaw-Dropping 1,064 HP

Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 Sets Five New Track Records Across the US
The 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 is already breaking track records, and who wouldn’t be surprised? With a whopping 1,064 horsepower, this supercar slayer is designed for speed. The latest news reveals that the ZR1 has set five new benchmarks at racetracks across the United States, outshining even the Porsche 911 GT2 RS.
New Lap Record at Road Atlanta
One of these records was set at the prestigious Road Atlanta, a short and hilly track with tricky corners and a long straightaway perfect for showcasing all that horsepower. Corvette engineer Chris Barber was thrilled to break the lap record and reclaim the top spot.
"We were thrilled to get Road Atlanta because of the history Corvette has there," said Barber. "It’s my favorite track in North America. Coming away with a two-second-faster lap record was beyond exciting for me."
Lessons Learned
Barber was happy to note that the mid-engine car, the Corvette ZR1, is more forgiving than its rear-engine predecessor. "That car is awesome, but it’s harder to put down power," he admitted. "The mid-engine car is just more friendly—it puts power down easier having that weight in the back."
A Few More Twelfths
Despite Barber’s exceptional driving skills and the car’s impressive performance, there’s always room for improvement. As we watch the onboard video of the ZR1 flying around Road Atlanta’s 12 turns, we can’t help but think that there might be even faster times hiding within. Will we see an even quicker lap record in the future?
