Nvidia Shield TV gets its first major update in over two years, with numerous bug fixes and new features

The wait is finally over, and Nvidia Shield TV users are receiving a significant update, packed with bug fixes and new features. The latest Shield Experience 9.2 has started rolling out to all Shield TV devices, marking the first major update in over two years.

What’s changed?

The update brings a plethora of bug fixes, including problems with fast-forward and rewind in video playback, issues with the remote not responding after waking from sleep, and more. Additionally, Shield Experience 9.2 introduces new features, such as an improved Match Frame Rate feature in beta and the ability to clear an HDMI 1.4 flag during a factory reset.

AURO-3D support

The most significant change, however, is support for AURO-3D, which enables "high-resolution immersive sound" over HDMI through a compatible decoder. This feature promises a more realistic audio experience for those with compatible equipment.

Known issues

Unfortunately, the update is not without its hiccups. Similar to a previous hotfix release, Shield Experience 9.2’s final release may break Google Home integration on the Shield TV. Users will need to re-add their Shield TV device manually after the update.
