The Basics of Activity Rings
Before we dive into closing your Activity Rings, make sure you’ve set your Move (red), Exercise (green), and Stand (blue) goals on your Apple Watch. Adjust these goals to suit your lifestyle and fitness level. Once you’ve set your goals, select “Next” to proceed to the next step.
The Three Activity Goals
You’ll need to complete your Move, Exercise, and Stand goals each day to close your Activity Rings. Let’s break each goal down:
Move Goal (Red)
- Any activity that gets you moving counts towards your Move goal, such as running errands, walking the dog, or doing yard work.
- Your Apple Watch tracks your movement and calculates the calories burned, which contributes to your Move goal.
Exercise Goal (Green)
- To achieve your Exercise goal, you need to engage in a workout or exercise using the Workout app or a compatible third-party app like Stava or Nike Run Club.
- If you’re doing an activity that raises your heart rate, your Apple Watch may ask if you’d like to log it as exercise as well.
Stand Goal (Blue)
- Your Stand goal is to get up and move around for one minute each hour.
- To achieve your Stand goal, you need to get up and move around 12 times throughout the day.
