Revolutionize Your Water Filtration with a Battle-Tested Survival Kit

Water on the Go: A Portable Solution for Emergency Water Needs
As a vanlifer and adventurer, I’ve always been concerned about access to water when venturing off the grid. It’s a concern that’s taken on new urgency in recent years, with government ministers urging citizens to stock up on emergency supplies due to increased risks of armed conflict and other regional unpleasantries.
The Emergency Kit
One recommendation is to have three liters (almost one gallon) of water per person per day on hand. That’s a significant amount of space to dedicate to water storage, especially for a small household like mine. I’ve been thinking about augmenting my emergency freshwater stores with a filtration and purification kit that can adapt to all the water sources around me. And since I’m always on the move, I need a portable solution that can keep up with my active lifestyle.
The Dometic Go Faucet
Enter the Dometic Go faucet, a luxury item that’s become a game-changer for me. This faucet is a two-in-one solution that provides both filtered drinking water and unfiltered water for washing and hygiene. The Go faucet has an internal battery that can power up to 150 liters (almost 40 gallons) of water per charge, making it an excellent choice for extended trips or emergency situations.
The Filter and Purifier Kit
My filter and purifier kit consists of a combination of LifeStraw and Sawyer filters, along with a 20-liter jerry can for storing water. The kit can handle a range of water types, from cloudy to clear, and is designed to remove pathogens, bacteria, and other contaminants. I’ve also added a few CPC adapters to connect my filters to my water sources.
The Known Unknowns
While I’m confident in my kit’s ability to provide safe drinking water, I’m also aware of its limitations. For example, the kit can’t handle water polluted by chemicals or toxins, and requires regular maintenance to prevent mold and bacteria growth. I’m always looking for ways to improve my setup and would love to hear from readers who have experience with similar kits.
