Unleash the Magic: Eternal Strands Monster Hunting Review

Eternal Strands Review: A Magical Action RPG
Platform: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC
Release Date: January 28, 2025
The Unlikely RPG
When I first heard about Eternal Strands, I thought it was going to be a traditional role-playing game (RPG) with a party of complex characters, like the Dragon Age games. Not least, given that the game’s creative director, Mike Laidlaw, has a background at BioWare. However, Eternal Strands takes a different approach. This is an action RPG that combines modern elements from The Legend of Zelda and Shadow of the Colossus with a unique magical system.
Strands of Magic
As Brynn, a weaver with a talent for elemental magic, you’ll explore a secluded realm known as the Enclave, fighting big bad monsters and ancient machines to earn new strands. These strands are not just simple magic spells; they’re based on the laws of thermodynamics. For example, fire burns, ice freezes, and fire is effective against ice, but if you’re not careful, you’ll take damage from the cold.
A Fun and Breezy Adventure
While Eternal Strands may not have the same epic scope as other RPGs, it’s a fun and breezy adventure that’s perfect for kicking off 2025. The game’s novel use of magic and colossal set pieces make it stand out from other action RPGs.
