Unlocking Android’s Secret Sauce: Leaked Pixel Upgrade to Match iPhone’s Revolutionary Vibration Technology

Google Sounds App Update Brings Custom Vibration Patterns to Pixel Phones

Google has been spotted making changes to its Sounds app, which could bring a long-awaited feature to Pixel phone owners: custom vibration patterns. This update is expected to arrive alongside the Android 16 update, but the exact timeline is still unknown.

Currently, iPhones have a head start when it comes to customizing ringtones and vibrations for specific contacts. However, Google is catching up with its own version of this functionality. As spotted by tipster Nail Sadykov, the updated Google Sounds app will allow users to choose from 12 vibration patterns for their apps and alerts, including Swoop, Snare, Heartbeat, Swirl, Buzz, and Bumps.

This update is a welcome addition for Pixel phone owners, as it will give them more control over the strength of their phone’s vibrations. No longer will they be limited to the default vibration settings. With this update, users can increase or decrease the strength of the vibrations based on their personal preference.

Built-in Updates

The Google Sounds app is a built-in feature of the Pixel software, so you won’t need to download and install it separately. To access the app, go to Settings > Apps > See all apps and select Sounds. You should see the version number at the bottom of the screen. The current version at the time of writing is 3.1, while the updates to vibration customizations have been spotted in version 3.2.

When Will the Update Arrive?

Exactly when Google plans to push the upgrade out to phones remains to be seen. With Android 16 now in the beta phase, it’s possible that we won’t get these options until Android 16 is officially launched in the next few months.

What About Non-Pixel Devices?

If you’re using a non-Pixel device, your options will vary depending on the features your phone’s manufacturer has decided to add. For instance, Samsung Galaxy phones have their own Sound Assistant app, which offers similar features.
